January TUSAL and a WIP... Friday?

So my goal this year was to use a pretty bottle for TUSAL, and then I realized I didn't like the bottle I had picked out quite so much, and I am currently using a juice bottle.

And then I saw Carla's utterly amazing ort container and I realized I wanted a pretty one like that, too.  Only I don't drink gin, so I'm opting for my rather nice Flor de CaƱa bottle, except for the part where I'm currently not drinking and there's still a bit in the bottle (I really like the Sobieski bottle, but I have a fresh handle of that, so that's definitely not going to be happening).   Oh well, maybe in a month or two ;)

It's a bit poofed from having everything dumped in from another bottle and I'm missing all of the threads from my trip (obviously), but I have no doubt I'll make more progress in the future.

Speaking of progress (kinda) - I started on the CloudsFactory Through the Stars mystery piece.  I wanted to get the frame done first (I'm clearly not going to get January done in January).  I started at the top and worked counter clockwise, only to screw up the placement of the second to last (in the picture) circle.  So I need to tear out the two and finish it off.  I'm thinking I will do my damnedest to work on Fantasy Sampler and my reward will be the CloudsFactory piece.

I'm super excited because it looks like I get a day of stitching on Sunday!  (mostly, we're shopping for flooring at some point, and I will probably make more golabkis)

  1. A pretty ort jar is a must! Hit an antique shop or a flea market/junk shop they have the neatest stuff!

I've been seeing Cloud Factory stuff on Instagram I had never heard of that design company before the last year.

    1. I've been thinking about hitting thrift stores or the flea market here, but I've just been really lazy about it ;) Plus I drink so much wine and other booze ("so much" being relative), I keep thinking that using one of those would be best.
Cloudsfactory does seem to be suddenly popular. I know I've been "out" of the stitching scene for a while, but I've noticed a lot of their patterns cropping up here and there.

  2. I think we're all a bit envious of Carla's super awesome ORT jar, hehe :D

Gret start on the Zodiac Sampler...I kind of regret not getting the pattern yet, it is so pretty :(

    1. I'm so envious, I'm shopping for empty bottles on the internet! LOL (I can't drink gin, I react badly to it).

I am enjoying what I've seen of the pattern so far - I really need to get Capricorn stitched - I love how she's laid out the pattern!

  3. The Zodiac Sampler is looking fabulous on that fabric. Okay so I really really love that fabric.
I've been on the hunt for a pretty ORT jar. Right now I'm using a pasta sauce jar. Very boring. :-/

    1. That fabric was why I caved on the kit. It's so awesome! I can't wait to have more stitched on it so it will color correct a bit more - it looks washed out in that picture.

Your pasta jar, my juice bottle - we're a very domestic pair! ;)

  4. Your fabric makes a nice night sky for the Zodiac sampler.

    1. Thank you! That gorgeous Gothic was why I just had to do the mystery!

  5. Very nice progress. I dream of a cool ORT jar but settle for my old Yankee Candle jar - it is easy access so that I can pull that longer then normal piece out to do the one missed stitch.

  6. I want a pretty ORT jar too! I rummaged mine out of my mom's old food shed but it's probably just an old horseradish container hah. I second that thrift stores usually have neat things; I just forget to look for them. :B

Loving your CF piece, even with the frog prince.

    1. I keep thinking of hitting the thrift store when I donate my clothes but forgetting - I know they have nice things!
I briefly thought about using my hurricane glass from HardRock, too, but I'm afraid of tumping it over.

      Thank you for the compliment!
