It's on a mystery piece of opalescent fabric. Blue/white mottled (quite pretty), and I thought it was 28 count, but it's bigger than the finished piece should have been, so I guess maybe 25 ct?
I'll be buying a hoop to frame it in, I got a 5" hoop, but it's a bit too small with Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-54562113950553781492018-07-09T09:18:00.000-04:002018-07-09T09:18:13.439-04:00Texas! (again :) ) and some other progress
Welp, I started off with a wild and crazy Friday night.
I broke out my new vacuum sealer and spent the night inventorying the freezer, properly sealing things, and processing veggies for the freezer. Wooooo. Young me would be soooo envious of old me's Friday night partying ;)I actually wanted another model of a FoodSaver (I've had one in the past), but it was more than Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-61928084251736489892018-07-02T14:01:00.002-04:002018-07-02T14:01:40.403-04:00Oops.This weekend was super eventful or busy or, I don't know what I want to call it, but I definitely enjoyed being at home and getting stuff done.
I can't remember if I mentioned it, but we hired painters last year and they were... not good. So it's taken me a year, but I finally (almost - I have three touch ups) finished painting the master bath. And then we hired a handyman earlier Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-56975719396701260892018-06-30T08:00:00.000-04:002018-06-30T08:00:13.774-04:00Gardening update - June 2018I have not done a gardening/Garden Tower Project post in a couple of years!
Once upon a time (2011?) I saw something about the Garden Tower Project online somewhere. It's a really cool container garden concept where you can vermicompost your kitchen scraps in the middle of the tube and it feeds your plants nutrients. It really works. I get much larger plants and muchSuzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-31067534119497055792018-06-29T09:00:00.000-04:002018-06-29T09:00:00.854-04:00Friends and get togethersEvery year or so, I travel to visit with a bunch of friends and have a long stitching get together.I didn't go last year because I was new at the job, and although I could have, I didn't want to take time off without having accrued leave (we have an abysmal PTO policy), and I always feel weird taking time off within the first 6 months of a job... Which, of course means that time must be flying if I made that progress a couple of months ago and didn't even notice! haha.
However, I did end up sewing a bunch (I didn't mean to, I swear!), so I do have some progress to Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-39374920378415371552018-06-27T17:01:00.002-04:002018-06-27T17:01:41.700-04:00Back from the stitching grave! And PUPs! and TW! And WIPWednesday!Long time, no see!
Of course long time, no stitch, as well.
This past weekend I went to visit some friends and have a stitchy get together. I'll blog all about that later (tomorrow? Friday? I dunno!) I'll even blog WIPocalypse soon, because I have an actual update (yippee!) But for now, let's talk about PUPs
PUPs is something my friend Terri said she does Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-62297363046548387032018-04-23T16:06:00.000-04:002018-04-23T16:07:25.454-04:00April IHSW & another bonus TUSALThis weekend was IHSW - the International Hermit and Stitch weekend hosted by Joysze at her blog and on Facebook. I stayed at home, nursing a sick puppy (Mona is off her arthritis meds and on prednisone, which makes her sad) and watching a bunch of Netflix (mostly Marcella).

Luckily we have a three day norovirus policy at work, so at least I didn't use my PTO for it.
But I finished the Mill Hill Skull!&Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-46204013754997527222018-04-02T15:36:00.000-04:002018-04-02T15:36:26.340-04:00More Sugar SkullI mentioned previously that I was switching from the "cross stitch then bead" to "cross stitch and bead by color."And then at some point (but not early enough to make it really fun), I decided to take a picture after each color.
I wish I had gotten a post-green pre-yellow picture, but I didn't. Oh well.

Orange is done!
Magenta (medium) is done!

I was busy either not crafting, or just working on my two Brooke's Books Ornaments.
I did decide to pick up my Mill Hill Sugar Skull. I've decided to do it a little different than the instructions strictly call for (other than stitching it on evenweave instead of the perforated paper). First up is Glendon Place's Mixed Berry Cheesecake. I still flove it to death, and although the picture makes it look greenish, the frame is actually silver with plummy accents:

First up is Tapestry by Ink Circles. Nick actually framed it using two frames - the inner is like a mat, which is pretty cool!
Next up is Immaculate Suzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17137247054609834103noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161748.post-68305157524626965882018-03-20T08:00:00.000-04:002018-03-20T08:00:22.759-04:00Plenty and Blessings by Brooke's BooksToday I have too many pictures of my Brooke's Books finishes - Plenty (fruit basket) and Blessings (fish). These are both part of the Bride's Tree series. I know Brooke's Books mostly from the 'dress up' series that are really pretty dresses from the Disney princesses.
Both of these were fun to stitch, Plenty was way faster/more fun than I thought it would be!

I did get her back, and the sister pieces!
I bought the three Desert pieces from Fireside Originals at Ginger's Needlework in Austin when I lived there in the late 90s. I finished the first one in 2001 on the recommended Feather Blue(?) 18 ct aida. I also have my first attempt at (foundation) paper piecing. I saw it in the Quiltville Facebook group and decided to give it a whirl with a fat quarter bundle of Halloween fabrics that have been hanging around in my stash. I used the print out from Generations Quilt Patterns.

And sewing; and other reasons for not stitching. It's been a bit since my last update, and part of that is because I haven't stitched. Instead of stitching I've been mostly working on the house; though I did do a little sewing.

First is the finish: Desert Sunrise! I didn't take pictures of it before I handed it off to Annette to get it framed (my main goal for that piece), so I have a picture of it in framing progress instead.
This is where I started
