Ia! Ia! Cthulhu F'thagn!

Seriously, people, I have an illness.

I cannot stop with the biscornus. I said I was gonna get that Cthulhu design, and sho' nuf, I did.

This is Ia! Ia! by Periphaeria (purchased through One Star's Light  look at me! pimpin' sites!)

I finished it as a biscornu, since that's what it wants to be. And because I'm currently obsessed with them.

I stitched in with DMC501 (I always intended to stitch this pattern with that color, I love it, although I have floss and fabric picked out for three more of these if I so choose). I happened to have matching beads (with a gold sheen) from my jewelry beading hobby that I used to finish the seams. It's (of course) stitched on my favorite fabric: 32 Ct Platinum Lugana.

This is way bigger than the Just Nan biscornu, and I stuffed it so thick it's like a freakin' hockey puck. I never thought I'd get the center bead/button to cinch in. It's just a cheap costume jewelry pearl kinda thing, but I love the way it looks.

Now I'm off to decide if I should rove my patterns for more biscornu stitching or just get crackin' on another Cthulhu or if I should just knock it off for a while (probably knock it off, as my graduate project is currently in big trouble, though not through any obvious fault of mine so far). I did notice that my stitching albums (and my Yuku profile) were woefully out of date, so I went ahead and updated those pictures as well. I'm so awesome.

Here's adorable Cthulhu (cuz seriously, has he ever been so cute? And will I get in trouble for referring to Cthulhu as "adorable" and/or "cute"?)... (top, side, and bottom clickably good views)

Here's the question: What kind of mind thinks... "You know what would make a great biscornu? Cthulhu!!!"?? One I think I need to buy a drink, that's for sure.

Halloween Happy Dance

I finished another small piece. This is Checkered Halloween by M Designs. I'm not even sure why I had the kit, it's not my "usual" style, but I saw it and decided to stitch it "real quick" before getting back to the UFO RR I'm working on right now. I needed a break from the greens I've been staring at, I guess.

I'm thinking I should finish it as a flat fold to display during the Halloweeny days. I love how I"m going to have to get the alignment dead perfect on mounting, because those checks do not lie (It makes me a little ashamed I didn't press or stretch it for the HD picture... oh well).

I received my completed Lily Pond Dreams in the mail today from Laural!

It's been through two UFO-RR rounds and is done! It was one of the first pieces I started, and I was still in love with it, but I was really stuck. You know how it gets. I've been working really hard on my UFOs that I receive to generate good stitching-karma, and I was rewarded.

She need a bath and a pressing, but here she is:

I'm sending out another one I'm stuck on. I really want to work on it, but when I pull it out, I'll put a couple of hours into it and then just ignore it on the qsnaps. I bring you TW's Egyptian Sampler...

Pretty pathetic, huh? I started it just after it was released. And then apparently wandered on to something else. Maybe when I get it back from the UFORR I'll be inspired again, because I really want to work on some of my TWs (they take up a huge chunk of my rotation list).

Hopefully I'll have another HD soon, because I took a break after working on Life in Trees for 10-12 hours to work on another little piece that was just calling to me.

BTW, I'm at home today, on Friday. My boss mysteriously went insane and gave us all two days off... Thursday and Friday. Only experiments don't seem to take vacations, so I showed up yesterday anyway. And today, well, gosh darn it, DH has the cell phone, so if anyone needs anything from me, it's a shame. Hah.

I started to work on Just Nan's snowflake thingy (you know, the one I've stitched before), only I stitched it two more times so I could try my hand at this biscornu thingie.

And OMG, is it not the cutest thing ever???

And by the by, there will be a button in the middle, I just wanted to put a candycane button or charm in the middle and the local craft stores are mysteriously out of Christmas Items. I guess I was surprised, because with CommercialMas, you would've thought they had the displays out by now. I mean, it is after Valentine's Day and all. For the meantime, I just put in a simple stitch with white floss until I find a button that makes my little heart glad.

Still, So cute! So fun! I forsee a houseful of biscornus in the future. They'll be like little cross-stitch tribbles. Bein' cute, taking up space, growling at Klingons and all that jazz. I even picked which one I think I need next.

Btw, great thanks to Annette's awesome tutorial, for without perfect and clear instructions, I am a lost little lamb when it comes to finishing anything.

Now I'm going to go spend the rest of my day fondling my biscornu while checking out how Bo is doing with his Mysterious Soap Disease of the Pancreas.

Oh look, I finished something

June sent this to me as a RAK not too long ago. So, between the no-stitching thing, the fact that I did actually want to stitch the hummers in 2008 and whatever else has been going on in my head (lots of stress, trust me), I thought I'd give it a go.

Eeenterestingly enough, I had bought the fabric from Crossed-Wing's booth in Hershey. I think it's my new favorite fabric color. I'm not happy about the piece though, I felt like I couldn't stitch right while I worked on it. On the upside, it is a finish. It still needs a bath, but I wanted to post a photo pronto.
