New Year New Start

Happy New Year!
I worked yesterday, so guess what I'm doing today?

New Year New Start!

I thought I deserved a new, large WIP (it was difficult to keep it at one, because I've managed to kit up three now, which tells you how it is I end up in the predicament of too many WIPs!)

Stained Glass Zelda (Windwaker) from Sprite Stitch - stitched 2 over 1 (tented, because I wanted the slightly hazy effect you get with stained glass, not the pixilated full crosses).  On 25 ct Lugana.  I'm gridding as I go (maybe)... I'm not a gridder (I actually find it confusing, which is ALSO why I'd be gridding every 20 instead of 10), but this thing is farkin' huge.  I could probably use the help.

In fact, at 286*426, I think it qualifies as my first BAP.

Here's what it'll look like(ish) when it's done:

  1. It's so bright and colorful! The first thing I thought of when I looked this BAP was "I'd do all that black first and then go back and fill in the colors"....and then realized it's not my project because I have enough to do ha ha!

    1. Great minds think alike! I bought a 500g cone of DMC black just because of this project! I started just doing the black, but since I really hate moving qsnaps around, I did black, filled in a bit, did more black, filled in a bit, etc. I think I'll be doing a motif at a time, just to keep some color going! :)

    1. The colors are what did me in! So bright and pretty! I realize I have other projects that people would consider BAPs, but this is the first one that actually made me feel "woah" about the size :)

  4. I'm sure this will look lovely, I love stained glass and Zelda! I also approve of your use of tenting on this, will add a nice effect, I'm sure. What I would probably try is doing the black in full stitches (as it's not really part of the glass) and the colors tented, I could imagine that looking awesome as well...

    1. That's an interesting take - I'm going to have to ponder that - Thank you! My issue with tent stitches are things on the diagonal, and full crossing the black would make it less annoying.

    1. I know, right?! I was so excited when I saw someone else post it on FB and I tracked it down at SpriteStitch :)

  6. As a haphazard visitor of SS as well, I'm happy to see this piece being worked on!! :D Gonna do the other(s? I can't remember if there are two or three) stained glass Zelda BAPs too? :D???

    1. I did download the others, though I think this is the only one I'm going to do. The triforce is for a friend, and while I (or more accurately - the DBF) am a fan of Zelda, I think I'll have my fill after this one!

    1. Thank you! Part of me wants to designate times to stitch on it so I can keep it moving. I'm too busy (I have outings on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays every week) to do a "stitch a thread a day" I want to come up with something regular.
